The Louvre in Morning Light

The subject is the Louvre Museum in Paris, centering on the Louvre Pyramid. I wanted to convey a sense of “quiet” in this normally bustling location, so chose morning light with long shadows, before the throngs of museum goers appear. Even so, there are people in the scene, including a man walking his dog. The effects of light are an important element here, and I found the pattern of the four streetlamps in the foreground most appealing.

Le sujet est le Musée du Luvre à Paris, avec la Pyramide du Luvre au centre. Je voulais évoquer un sens du calme dans cet endroit habituellement débordant d’activité. J’ai donc choisi la lumiére du matin avec de longues ombres, avant que les foules d’habitués des musées apparaissent. Tout de même, il a y des gens dans la scène, y compris un homme qui promène son chien. Les effects de la lumière sont un élêment important ici, et j’ai trouvé vivement attirant le motif des quatre réverbères au premier plan.
