Houses of the Parliament
Oil on linen, 36″ x 48″, 2014
The Houses of the Parliament, viewed from across the Thames, in morning light. This was inspired by the grandeur of the architecture, Monet’s series of the same name, and by Vermeer’s View of Delft. Here, the stillness of the river contrasts with the explosiveness of the sky, while the railing in the foreground echoes the vertical lines in the Parliament buildings.
