View From Tate Modern
Oil on linen, 36″ x 48″, 2013
A view of London from the Tate Modern in late afternoon, featuring Saint Pauls’ Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge — and fellow observers. The compositional focus is the people seated in the foreground, painted in black and flattened, which contrasts with the city beyond, which is painted in color and detailed. I wanted to paint the city so detailed that you could lose yourself in it.
