House on the Cliffs, Menemsha
Watercolor on paper, 14″ x 20″, 1989
One of the paintings with the late afternoon sunlight, this one emphasizes the yellow-orange against the green-blue. The water in the foreground provided a nice mirror to bring the sky into the ground to tighten up the composition. It also glorifies the architecture (house) on the cliffs, which is the main subject, as opposed to something that could have detracted from the natural beauty of the place.
