Bowery Hotel

The subject of this painting is the Bowery Hotel, located in the East Village, during the late afternoon. The hotel stands tall above its surroundings, and the sun is positioned low in the sky, casting shadows on the buildings. However, the shadows are accentuated by dappled light reflecting from nearby windows. On the adjacent East 3rd Street, you can catch a glimpse of one of Beau Stanton’s murals.
