Central Park – Bow Bridge
Oil on canvas, 12″ x 9″, 2013, private collection
This is the Bow Bridge on the Lake in Central Park, New York City in Autumn. Fall foliage is at its peak, and it is late afternoon, with the sun low in the sky. Compositionally, there are two main elements — the trees, which are mostly represented by color, and the bridge, which is represented by light, shadow, reflections, and space. I liked the way the bridge takes on an entirely new shape by combining the reflection with the bridge itself.
