Central Park – Gapstow Bridge
Oil on linen, 24″ x 48″, 2016
The setting for this painting is The Pond in Central Park, looking north to the Gapstow Bridge. It is autumn and the leaves are starting to turn. A lone figure sits contemplatively on the rocks, while others are hidden behind foliage. Space is created by elements such as the bridge, trees, and rocks, leading you into the picture. You don’t really get a sense of the size of the bridge until you notice the figures walking across it.
