Crosswalk Reflections
Oil on linen, 16″ x 20″, 2018
.
This is a view of the intersection of Varick and North Moore Street in Tribeca, NYC. I was interested in how elements could be seen both through, and reflected in, the windows of the entrance to Walker’s Restaurant. One of the outdoor umbrellas, seen through the windows, is a prominent center, and pedestrians are both walking toward the viewer, as seen through the windows, and away from the viewer, as reflected in the windows. I was also interested in how the diagonals in the foreground and background reflections work together and how the crosswalk leads you into the composition.
