High Line Reflections – 24″x24″

High Line Reflections

Oil on linen, 24″ x 24″, 2024

.

This painting captures a view from the High Line, looking west above 22nd Street, on a late October afternoon. The reflected light casts a warm glow, and ‘X’-shaped reflections create an unusual pattern across the buildings.

At the center is Heavenly Body Works, its street-level facade completely covered in graffiti, with a Ukrainian flag over one of the windows. The building on the right side of the street is mirrored in the reflections on the windows to the left. Reds are echoed in the buildings and the tree in the center, while blues appear in the sky, the side of the central building, and car reflections. Just above the trees, there is a hint of New Jersey across the Hudson River. Four figures walk in and out of the frame, while one stands waiting, looking at their phone.

Here are some other paintings from the High Line.
