Red Door
Oil on linen, 12″ x 9″, 2024
.
This painting depicts a stand-alone townhouse on West 27th Street, with the High Line just to the right and outside the frame. I was captivated by the way the building was illuminated, particularly the way the red door seemed to glow in the darkness. To the left, shadows of a street sign add to the urban ambiance, while to the right, construction vehicles and their shadows hint at ongoing activity. In the background are buildings that surround the High Line, and above, the sky is accented by clouds and a single star.
Here are some other paintings from the High Line.
