Staple Street – Looking South
Oil on linen, 24″ x 24″, 2017
.
The scene is Staple Street, in Tribeca, NYC. A prominent feature is the overhead footbridge that connected the old House of Relief and the ambulance annex of the New York Hospital. It is morning, with the light shining in from the east, lighting the cross streets and edges of the buildings on Staple Street. Most of the buildings, street, and people are in shadow.
Staple Street runs two blocks, between Harrison St. and Duane St., just west of Hudson Street.
