Tribeca Rooftops

This painting is related to several “rooftop” paintings. The location here is West Broadway at Warren Street in Tribeca, NYC. The angles of the rooflines suggest looking up. At the center is 1 World Trade Center, compositionally bringing the sky color through to the bottom of the picture plane. Also, the blues and whites of the buildings tie in with the sky and clouds, making the buildings feel like they are floating. Notice there are not only trees planted on the rooftops, they also appear in a picture on the side of one of the buildings.
