Kalea and Beckett
Oil on linen, 54″ x 36″, 2015
The setting is Provincetown, Cape Cod, in the early evening. Kalea and Beckett (Zoey’s kids) were hanging out, waiting for a family beach wedding to begin. I felt that the two figures could make a compelling composition, with the older sister standing over her brother, the sequined and beaded red blouse, the purple hair, the black skirt and black sweater. I accentuated the contours of the sand and let them swirl around the figures as if they were radiating off of them.
