This painting portrays Amor y Amargo (“Love and Bitter”) on a balmy autumn evening in the East Village. Set during the Covid-years, an outdoor-dining shed adorned with a colorful mural stands across the sidewalk. The focal point is a string of overhead lights, casting a gentle glow on the orange wall, the sidewalk, and the trees above. A curious black cat quietly observes the animated conversations of the people.
